Rejoicing Spirits Worship Service – The First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls is beginning a new ministry called Rejoicing Spirits, which reaches out to enrich the spiritual lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, and their support community.
On the third Saturday of each month, beginning September 20, 2014, we invite those interested to meet with us at 5:30 p.m. for an adapted Christian worship service and fellowship time, followed by light refreshments. Our church is located at 245 Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls.
Rejoicing Spirits is a nondenominational Christian worship service which shares God’s message of love in various ways including joyous music, a brief meaningful message, a “no shushing” policy, active participation opportunities, and good fellowship.
People of all ages, faiths and abilities are welcome.
Rejoicing Sprits enriches the spiritual lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, friends and other supportive community members through meaningful, inclusive worship and fellowship that shares God’s word and message of love. The worship is welcoming to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The first Rejoicing Spirits Service was held in Pennsylvania in 2003, and today there are 28 Rejoicing Spirits congregations in 11 states. Two of these congregations are in Ohio: Cuyahoga Falls First UMC which will be meeting for worship the third Saturday of each month, and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hudson which meets the first Saturday of each month.
